While I hiked this morning, a close childhood friend passed away. She was a creative genius who once conceived of making a quilt by associating fabrics with the numbers on dice she rolled to determine the pattern. She taught mathematics, as she would have been horrified to know, I have done. Her untimely death makes me ever more determined to take advantage of my time.
