RENEGADE RAMBLE. Day 7: 8.2 Miles

I am seeking $20 donations for each mile but will accept any amount: ProtectOurPreserve.org/donate. We only need another $3000 to meet our goal of $25,000 by the end of July!

Fraesfield Trailhead. Black Hill Trail. 136th Street Express. Turpentine Trail. Black Hill Trail. Granite Mountain Trail. Returning on Black Hill Trail. Dixileta Trail. 136th Street Express Monument Trail. Back to Fraesfield Trailhead.

I had never been to the Fraesfield Trailhead before today. It boasts a lovely view of the sunrise, which I was fortunate enough to witness.

I didn’t see a soul until after I passed the Granite Mountain Trailhead, when I ran into three hikers who are already involved in helping ProtectOurPreserve.org. It was fun to meet some of the folks who I only know through Facebook. Thanks Stan, for your donation and to each of you for having signed the petition early on.

Near the intersection of Turpentine and Black Hill Trail, a lone coyote crossed the wash about 50 feet in front of me. He took one look at me and loped off. My photo-finger failed me again. Oh, well.

On Dixileta Trail, I was introduced to the interesting cactus in the photograph. While I’m sure someone else has named her, I’ll call her Medusa for her wild hair!

Thank you to the dozen or so bikers and hikers who stopped to chat about the DDC. I appreciate your openness and willingness to listen.

If you’d like to hike a leg with me, or if you have suggestions about how ProtectOurPreserve.org might raise money and awareness, please contact me.
